BLACK PEPPER PHOTOGRAPHY LLC.

is a wedding media company focused on authentic storytelling, capturing love stories with depth, warmth, and a touch of nostalgia.

We’re a woman-led, BIPOC-owned photography and storytelling team based in Richmond, VA and Washington, D.C., focusing on weddings, elopements, and lifestyle portraits. Our work is driven by connection - the laughter, the in-between moments, and the ease that comes from feeling truly present.

We love weddings in the rolling hills of Virginia and along the timeless streets of Washington, D.C., but we’re always happy to travel wherever your story begins.

CAPTURING YOUR CREATIVE VISION,

ONE FRAME AT A TIME.

Our fun-focused,

photo-fanatic philosophy

Here, we sell stories, not packages. We capture creations, not clients. No one photo can perfectly encapsulate each thread of your love story. We believe every moment captured is a snapshot of a much greater tapestry.

We are here to make you feel confident. To empathize with being camera shy and to shatter your anxious expectations with photos that you love and that capture who you are, not who we want you to be.

BPP is a brand that believes in belonging, beauty, and boldness.
We are so freaking excited to
share in your story.

Black Pepper Photography was an absolute delight to work with for our wedding. Their communication was fantastic - they were timely, professional, and personal, with an enthusiastic approach that made the experience truly enjoyable. The quality of their work was simply stunning, with breathtaking, extraordinary, and timeless photos that captured every precious moment of our special day. Chayil, our photographer, took charge to help manage the multiple people in our wedding party and family when we were feeling overwhelmed, and executed our photography needs flawlessly. She was super friendly and funny to work with, making our day exciting and memorable.

Chayil is a wonderful person who really dedicates herself to your special day and stops at nothing to capture exactly what you want. She's a true life photographer who captures every life milestone in photographs that will last a lifetime. Chayil was also incredibly supportive and willing to work with whatever we asked of her - she was honestly such an amazing guest and vendor, even getting people out on the dance floor and making everyone smile and laugh all night long. Everyone who attended our wedding still tells me how great Chayil was and how lucky we were to have her with us and capturing our special day.”

OUR WHY

The name, Black Pepper Photography, is inspired by the national flower of Chayil’s mother's home - Liberia, West Africa. When deciding on the name, the goal was to incorporate a way to honor her homeland and ancestral heritage in a subtle but powerful way.

Since April 1st, 2022, a portion of all profit we receive at BPP will be sent back to Liberians - or as we like to call them - black pepper flowers. This donation will be used to help blossoms, just like those pictured to the right, grow to full bloom - vibrant, healthy, and beaming.
