Chayil McGlotten is a Richmond, VA, Washington D.C., and Durham, NC-based photographer and storyteller with a focus on weddings, elopements, and lifestyle portraits. Taking photos since 2016, she lives to document the stories of every lovely human she gets to meet. Her ideal clients are laugh-loving, sun-chasing, care-freers. She loves the DMV and North Carolina, but she’ll go wherever your story begins.

Black Pepper Photography was an absolute delight to work with for our wedding. Here, I sell stories, not packages. I capture creations, not clients. No one photo can perfectly encapsulate each thread of your love story. My belief is that every moment captured by the camera is a snapshot of a much greater tapestry.
I am here to make you feel confident. To empathize with being camera shy and to shatter your anxious expectations with photos that you love and that capture who you are, not who I want you to be.

MY WHY
The name, Black Pepper Photography, is inspired by the national flower of my mother's home - Liberia, West Africa. When deciding on the name, the goal was to incorporate a way to honor her homeland and ancestral heritage in a subtle but powerful way.
Starting April 1st, 2022, a portion of all profit I receive at BPP will be sent back to Liberians - or as I like to call them - black pepper flowers. This donation will be used to help blossoms, just like those pictured to the right, grow to full bloom - vibrant, healthy, and beaming.
